Nuweiba is the ideal point to start your safari into the magnificent Sinai desert. The mountains are only a stone throw away.
From here a jeep excursions to the famous Colored Canyon takes only a couple of hours. One day is necessary to enjoy the remote and beautiful oasis Ain Um Ahmad and a walk through the fascinating Wadi el Ain with its salty soil and yet so rich vegetation. Ain Hudra is a fairy tale oasis in the middle of a heaven not only for geologists. The Nawamis are supposed to be burial chamber as old as 8000 years.
A Safari of several days can combine the day tour excursions and can  go as far as Serabit el Khadem  visiting the temple of Hathor and the  remains of  turquoise mines out of Pharaonic times. Rocks of Inscriptions can be found all over Sinai depicting scenes of early life, when Sinai was still Savanna with lions and ostriches to hunt - the only relics of these times is the Acacia tree. Nabateans, Romans and Byzanthines left messages on the rocks along the Pilgrim's Road (Darb el Hajj) for other pilgrims to read. One of the most amazing places where inscriptions can be found is Wadi Mukattab between St. Catherine and Serabit el Khadem.
Jeep safaris cover a huge part of the Sinai, it's history and natural phenomena. A completely different experience is the discovery of the Sinai in the footsteps of the Bedouins on a Camel Trek.
From Nuweiba it takes about 3 days to visit the Colored Canyon. A 10 day trek leads from St. Catherine to Nuweiba. However, a camel trek is an unforgettable adventure of a lifetime - an experience of simplicity of life and  the warm hospitality of the Bedouins.
